Hotel Faro

Hotel Faro is ideally located right in the centre of Faro, presiding over the historical Old Town to one side and the sweeping wetlands of the famous Ria Formosa Natural Park to the other. The hotel is just 7km from Faro International Airport and well located for public transport systems, making it one of the most easily accessed hotels in Portugal’s entire Algarve region.

The hotel offers a total of ninety rooms comprising sixty-one twins, twenty-six doubles and three suites all decorated in a clean, contemporary style. Each includes a complete bathroom, hot and cold air conditioning with individual temperature controls, telephone, Internet access, cable TV, radio, fully stocked minibar and private safety deposit box.

While not specifically a business hotel, the Hotel Faro is popular among business guests thanks to its well-equipped conferencing and meeting facilities, central city location and proximity to Faro airport. Its catering facilities further enhance the hotel’s appeal, the fourth floor Ria Formosa restaurant and bar serving delicious cuisine from all over Portugal and across the Mediterranean.

Guests can sample the gastronomic delights from the sweeping panoramic terrace against the twinkling backdrop of the beautiful Ria Formosa Natural Park which stretches some sixty kilometres along the eastern Algarve with Faro at its very heart. Breakfast is served daily in the restaurant providing guests with a deliciously wide choice of healthy and indulgent offerings to set them up for a busy day of sightseeing or business meetings.

It is hard not to be impressed by the sights, sounds and historical architecture of Faro’s Old Town and the Hotel Faro is perfectly positioned for guests to explore all that it has to offer. Wander at your leisure through the medieval city gates such as the Arco da Vila and the Arco da Porta Nova where old meets new.

The quaint cobbled streets within the old city walls are lined with a mixture of medieval and eighteenth- and nineteenth- century buildings such as the Cathedral, also known as the Igreja Matriz de Santa Maria on the Largo da Sé, the Chapel of Bones which lies alongside the Carmo Church, the Lethes Theatre, an accurate if miniaturised version of La Scala and the museum which is housed in a former sixteenth-century convent.

When you have had your fill of city sightseeing, head to the Ria Formosa for a trip amongst the wetlands to see the many rare bird species in their protected natural habitat before returning to the comfort of the Hotel Faro to share your experiences with fellow guests over a sundowner on the terrace.
